The moon was full, high in the sky and the stars twinkled magnificently. All of London's finest were there. Juliet had reluctantly attended. Her head had been in severe pain all evening, and she had almost fainted as the corset was tightened. She didn't know it, but her days retaining her sanity and self were slipping by fast. She didn't have much time left.
Her thoughts swam in her head as she entered the room. Numerous couples were already dancing, and on either side were tables of ladies and gentlemen- separated by gender- each discussing the same mundane gossip. She didn't have the patience for it. Her fuse was short, and she didn't want to embarrass her parents and face her father's wrath if she was rude to people. No, she had to keep up the facade of a lady no matter what. But it was so hot in the room, and then it was spinning. The voices of the people inside faded into a low hum. She had to get out of there.
Inconspicuously, she began to make her way to the back of the room to the balcony. Some couples were out there already, each hoping to share a private moment. But she couldn't be around anyone, not now. They didn't seem to notice her, yet she could feel eyes on her. Her delicate hands went to the red falls of her skirt, and she lifted it just above her ankles to allow her to run without tripping. She couldn't tell why she was so panicked, and she hoped no one had seen her. No one had, not to her knowledge, but someone was following her. She could hear the footsteps quicken as she ran- someone was trying to find her.
Juliet reached out and wrenched the iron gate of the garden open. If anyone saw her now, they'd call her mad. Everyone knew that the gardens had been abandoned ever since the couple's child died while playing. Story had it that she had fallen into the fountain and died- no one went in there, and no one brought up why. But she was going to. It was irrational, but if she remembered right, when she used to play in the gardens, she could circle around to the busy street and make her way back to the ball all in one piece. Or she could go home- she wanted to go home, but home wasn't home anymore. Home had never been home.
She ran as fast as her heavy dress would allow, her breath was short- she could hardly breathe in the tight corset. She felt faint again. She was going to fall. She couldn't run anymore.
She collided with something- someone. Their arms wrapped around her tightly and she screamed, but no one would hear her. She was too far away. That was the point of all of this, wasn't it? A hand went over her mouth and she started to struggle in earnest. A knife was held up to her chest. She couldn't die here- she just couldn't. This wasn't how the story was supposed to end. There were still so many unanswered questions, so many things she had to know.
As he lifted the night to plunge into her chest, she took advantage of the fact he was only holding her with one arm and reached up- but not for the knife. Her fingers plunged into his eyes as she started to claw his sockets out. Her arm was twisted and snapped painfully as the man jerked back, screaming and dropping his knife. She knew he was down, and she didn't know what was compelling her forward, but she picked up the dropped knife and advanced. She couldn't count how many times she brought it down, but his chest cavity was split in a most gruesome fashion. Her red dress was stained in the dark crimson blood which had splattered all over her chest and arms.
She collapsed, finally, in exhaustion, staring at what she had done. But her mind was not on the murder she had just committed... she felt hungry. So very hungry. The last conversation with his sister, she had pointed out that his presence was rare. Enric found this to be a vice that needed to change. He had been catering to one side of the society so much that he lost his foundation. A woman was always the best source of information. He took his time to finally page through the social invitations, found the most fitting one and decided to attend. Of course, he did ask around to see who was on the guest list. Juliet had to be there. Even in the short span of talking and interacting with his sister, he started to notice the signs of dementia. Enric knew what he had to do to reverse her mental damage, he knew her time as a human was coming to an end. He had wished he had paid more attention to her and found any means to wedge himself into her life. Then he wouldn't have to rush his plans, to allow her more time to adjust. Time was barely in her grasp.
It would have been faster to arrive at the social gathering on foot, but he knew all the risks that would come with it. Instead, he opted for a carriage like every nobleman. He sat within the carriage with an almost impatient look, glad he didn't have to share the space. Putting on an act all day grew tiresome, and now he would have to further indulge in the bore of human life at the party. To think he was doing this all for Juliet and she had no idea. Perhaps he should warn her not to get on his bad side; he would remind her that he saved her. He wasn't sure if he was irritated or anxious about the end result with Juliet, but it was taking over his thoughts. Enric had a had time focusing much on anything else, and it was apparent with the way his eyes had a dark gloss to them.
After the minutes drawled, the carriage came to a stop and he exited. There were a line of couples entering the parlor of the party, and he followed behind them shortly. He was sure to be the only one who arrived alone, though he had asked his mother to come. Lady Stravos declined, knowing that having her children in the same room would get to her. Since Enric had yet to become a father, he did not quite understand the meaning of her decision – yet, he still respected it. He wore a dark tailored coat that hid his suit, blocking his body from the cold.
Entering the party room, there was a butler he took the jacket from him. He watched the man walk away with his coat, placing it in a safe place. As he walked further into the party, he picked out Juliet right away. She wore the color red, and he was stunned at the appeal it brought to her figure. Though he didn't have time to gawk because she frantically walked away, outside, away from the party. There was something wrong. Enric took off in her direction until he was abruptly stopped:
“Ah! Mr. Stravos, decided to take a break from work?” Enric glanced in the direction of the gentleman, but he didn't really stop to give him much attention.
“Yes, Mr. Crooksten. Please excuse me, I have to catch up to someone.” Without waiting for a reply like he normally would have, he followed Juliet out onto the balcony. She was no longer there, but he saw he figured darting across the lawn. There was someone following behind her. Enric moved with haste, following the balcony down into the lawn that intertwined to the abandoned garden. When he knew he was out of sight of the party, his figure became a blur. All he could hear was her audible cries and something in him relapsed. If anything happened to Juliet, he wasn't sure what he would do. Would he take it out on all of the party goers? In what way would the best revenge be? The composure that he worked so hard to build, would it all shatter?
When he got through the iron gate, he noticed that Juliet was hunched down on the ground. Through the moonlight and the contrast that the snow made against the ground, he could see the dark splatters all over Juliet. She was unharmed, but a man laid sprawled and crooked – close to that of a dead spider. The strong scent of blood filled his nostrils. Normally he would have cautiously approached Juliet, try to talk her out of any trauma she experienced. But tonight was not the night. Just behind Juliet, the man that he had seen stalking the woman, rushed at her with a large sword. In a quick flash, Enric was behind Juliet's back and in front of the stranger. The sword that was meant to pierce Juliet was stopped, Enric's left arm snapped out so that he could grab the assailant’s wrist. There was a loud snap, Enric had broke the stranger's wrist. His free hand reached over, placing his palm against the attacker's face, gripping at the flesh and in a single swoop, Enric had turned the man's head. Another sick snapping noise echoed through the darkness, he had broken his neck. As if disgusted, he pushed the man back and watched as his dead corpse fell to the ground.
He turned to Juliet, a glare in his eyes. It wasn't that he was mad at her, no, he was just overcome with the situation. Enric was reaching for a calm place in his head as he knelt down next to the female, placing one hand peacefully on the girl's shoulder.
“Juliet, give me the knife..”

It it hadn't bee for Enric, her life could have very well been over when the other assassin stepped out of the bushes to end her life. She could hear the footsteps, the crunch of bone, and the thud of dead weight. Even so, she couldn't bring herself to look around and see what had happened. She was too transfixed on the horror before her. Had she really just killed someone? Taken a life? They had tried to take hers first, yes, but did it give her the right to tear them apart as she had?
She brought a blood covered hand to her mouth and tried to resist the natural urge to lick it off. She thirsted for it, and it scared her. Startled when she heard Enric's voice, her head snapped up and she stared straight at him with a look of confusion and fright. With a shaking hand, she held the knife up for him to take. She looked like she was ready to cry. If she was ever going to regain any of her senses, any shred of who she used to be, she would need to be turned very, very soon. The attack had only sped up the process, and the human blood was starting to lose its power over her, but she had no vampire venom to replace what she was losing. She'd be nothing more than a shell...
"I don't know what happened..." she spoke suddenly, her voice calm, but her entire body shaking. It was obvious that she was troubled by it, though she was still managing to keep some of her composure. That wasn't going to last very long, but she clung to it. She would lose her sanity in private where no one could see, and she was afraid that once she did, she would never get it back. Believing she heard something, she looked wildly around in a panicked state before she realized that there was nothing there. "What is happening... What is happening to me?" she asked, pleasing for some answers.
She would have cried, had she been a weaker woman, but instead, she just looked helpless and frustrated. "I can't take this anymore... I can't." she choked back a sob, closing her eyes and lowering her head. She was so ashamed of her current state. How had it come to this? It scared her that she couldn't remember, but she hadn't been able to remember things for a long time now. She was bound for the asylum after this, she just knew it. If Enric stood up for her, she wouldn't go to jail, but the asylum was just as bad, she'd heard.
Either way, she didn't want to find out first hand. "Please help me," she whispered, not knowing what she was saying or implicating, but she couldn't give up, not now, even if it meant resorting to asking a stranger for help. Well, Enric wasn't really a stranger. She felt that she could trust him... maybe that would be enough. Juliet Devinger was broken, no more than tiny fragments of a doll. He could sense her slipping away, to a place that would be unreachable if Enric didn't act quick. Although he was still hyped up on what just occurred, he slowed his movements down to a normal pace. Her back had been turned the entire time, so she had no idea what Enric had just done to save her. Carefully, he reached forward so that he could take the knife from Juliet with his free hand. The other hand on her shoulder tightened slightly, letting her know that he was there. He wasn't going to leave her. Out of all things he ever wished for Juliet, this was the last of them. If he had to change the past he would fight for his sister; he would make it so that she never had to leave.
He knew that their mother could have protected him, but he also knew that their numbers as a vampire family would have given them away. If he was ever to be with Juliet, all of this had to happen. Now he was forced to look at his sister's scared, weak face. As a vampire who rarely dealt with his emotional side, he was beginning to feel every pain there was: anger, hurt, regret and love. Enric's protective nature was at its peek and he could only give his sister a weak smile. It will all be over soon..
The hand placed on her shoulder started to drift, his touch a mere caress. Being very gentle, as if he was handling a glass vase, he shifted his fingers over the nape of Juliet's neck. Enric placed the knife on the ground next to his left shoe, using his other hand momentarily to place the girl's face into his now free hand. He was cradling her in a way that he had never done with his food, giving her the luxury of his compassion. Her request was no better than an arrow to his heart, and he was now reveling in the fact of his new found weakness. This girl could be the end of him if he wasn't careful. Even in that split second where Juliet almost died, he thought of the everyone's death at the party.
Enric positioned the girl's head at an angle so that she would be forced to look up into his eyes. He could see the film on conscious in her emerald irises slowly fade to a place of coherency. Before she could slip away from him, he said quietly, “Rappelez-vous ce que vous avez oublié.“ Remember what you have forgotten. It was a key term for her mind, unraveling the suppressed memories. The next part was something he was uncomfortable with, hesitant on. One wrong move and Juliet would find herself in a shift between her human life and vampiric life. As the words were sown into Juliet's mind, he used his hands to crane her head back. He parted his lips quickly as his canines grew to a jagged edge, expertly using them to break the first layer of flesh on Juliet's neck. Her blood spilled from the newly created wound, touching the base of his tongue and spilling into his throat.
This was taboo, he knew it. Drinking from another royal bloodline was prohibited. Vampires were known to kill royals for the taste of it, and vice versa. Perhaps that is why no one was willing to attempt what the Stravos family had done, along with the impending side affects once the venom disappeared. He wasn't prepared for the sweetness of his sister's blood, and his fingers holding onto her were beginning to curl forward. Of course he wanted more, he thought he would kill her for it... he would drink her dry.... But he halted and used his hands instead to push himself away. She would begin to change, and he watched, hoping that it would work.
Before she could go any further, he reached down for that discarded knife. With not even a flinch he brought up the sharp blade and slashed the side of his neck open as his voice boomed through the silence:
“Quick, Juliet, drink my blood or else you'll die...!”

Her mind was deteriorating rapidly, and she could feel herself start to slip from reality's grip. It would all be over soon, it would all be over soon..
The words rang in her head as Enric's hand trailed over her neck and titled it back. He could have snapped it right then had he wanted to, but she trusted him, therefore she could not see the danger in her situation. His whispered words, telling her to remember, struck a cord in her, but she was too far gone to respond to it properly, to process its full meaning. Everything she had hoped and waited for was about to happen, and she would barely be conscious to witness her own change of state.
When he bit into her flesh, she gasped and arched her back, her arms reaching up, though they fell by her sides, her strength failing as the blood was sucked from her body. With wide, green eyes, she stared up at the night sky, wondering what was happening to her. She felt so very cold, like she would never be warm again. Her heart felt painfully still in her chest, and she began to jerk and shudder as she realized she was no longer breathing. She managed to move one arm and push herself up on her side, the look on her face a pained one at best. She was dying.
Seeing him as a lifesaver, she grabbed onto his sleeve with one of her hands and brought herself closer in. As his blood connected with her lips, she was filled with an insatiable hunger. She latched onto his neck, drinking his blood deeply. Nothing had tasted so sweet, so delicious. She wanted more, but something in her told her she had to stop or she would kill him. Although she did not know restraint, her body knew that it was changing, and she was forced back with a strangled cry. Her chest lurched, her eyes wide.
Noise filled her ears, and her vision seemed crystal clear. Everything about the world around her was more vivid and intense than it ever had been before. But it was the least of her concerns as she felt the vampire blood take over, coursing through her veins destroying the remaining traces of humanity she had been cursed with. And, as her pain began to subside, so did the change. She was no longer human, and she would never have to be subjected to such a miserable existence again.
She moved from where she had collapsed on the ground, stirring minutes after Enric had bitten her. There was a noticeable change in her, in the way she moved. But Juliet had finally gotten the answers she sought. She knew who was here before her, and she remembered what had happened to her. She remembered why she'd been sent away, why she had not been allowed to grow up in her rightful heritage... but it seemed like all of that was behind her now. Those who wanted to end the Stravos family line had found her, and she no longer had to hide.
Pushing her long dark hair back out of her eyes, she stared directly at her twin. "It's been a long time, brother..." The scene was macabre. There was blood everywhere. Juliet's pale flesh was spotted in dark contrasts, reflecting the picture of the snow beneath the two. The man who Juliet had stabbed violently to death was bleeding profusely, running through the snow and melting it – making a small river toward the two. They were literally sitting in a pool of blood. He watched the humanity within her wither away, he could see the apparitions of her vein slowly fade away. Now her skin was immaculate, as if it was white as the moon. If Enric didn't have such a keen sight, he was sure that he would become distraught. There was so much blood, so much red – a human would be overwhelmed with all the sensations. However, he had years of practice, this moment was only minor to the ones he was raised with.
Enric dropped the knife onto the ground, his hands covered in crimson. As he watched his sister die, he reached for her. Both of his hands went to her arms to hold her still as she lurched and began to twitch. He had never seen an actual change, not once in his life. The best that he could do was hold onto her and hope that she would go through the process quickly and painlessly. Being born and turned into a vampire were two different things. Was this what normal humans had to put up with? Perhaps Juliet's process was more forgiving, due to the fact that her true nature was merely disguised. He allowed her to move through his arms to reach his neck, feeling her mouth cling to the stem of his life.
He didn't know what it was like to have his blood drained. The balance of his head felt a little off as she fed on him, and his eyes were two dark orbs in the moonlight. If she didn't stop soon, he would have to fight back – push her off. There was enough blood and bodies around for her to snack on. However, luckily she pulled herself away. Juliet appeared to be reveling in his blood, adjusting her movements to that of a supernatural being. Enric's hands moved from her arms now. All he could do was place one hand against the wound on his neck, feeling the cells of his flesh slowly piece back together. There was no way the two could get back into the party now; they would have to sneak away from this murder scene. Before leaving, Enric would have to stage the area to make it look as though the two had killed each other. After all, the area was made up of superstitious tales.
His lips parted for a second as he ran his tongue over the lower set of his teeth, finding it unbearable to deal with the taste of his sister's blood. The girl then lifted her hair, using one dainty hand to remove the dark strands of hair from her face. Enric could see the spark of something monstrous in her. Being who he was, he rarely got a feeling of fear, but as he looked as his sister there was concern. He had hoped that she wouldn't be blood thirsty, due to all of the years she had to go without blood. A massacre was something London really didn't need, not when Enric had secured a place for his family in human society.
Then she called him brother and he felt a desire so strong. What did he want from her, exactly? He wasn't sure. The two of them had spent little time together, they never got to know each other's personalities nor their vices. What had happened was a miracle. “Juliet,” he said affectionately, finding words to fit the moment impossible. As the wound beneath his hand faded, he lowered his arm and reached to brush aside the mess of her hair even further. Yes, she was his. The look on his face appeared possessive and expectant. He had never been into hugs, but he did something he normally didn't do for once – he reached his arms forward and wrapped them around the girl's body, holding her to him closely.

She wouldn't be able to for very long, not without some sort of nourishment, but her mind was focused on her return to the vampire existence. Here, before her, was her twin brother, a man she hadn't seen in years. It pained her to think that she had no recollection of him as a human. A boy she used to spend every moment with as a child, she could not recall his name or his face. What had that horrible curse done to her?
He was correct. It was all over now. All of the pain and misery she had been subjected to was finally put to an end, but at what cost? The sweetness of his blood still tainted her mouth, and she knew that she would never find any as good as he. It was forbidden to drink the blood of royals- of other vampires, and certainly there must have been something about drinking the blood of one's twin. It set within her an insatiable craving for more. The ritual had been faulted; it had been their parents decision to curse them when it was time for Juliet's return to her family and home.
And what of their family now? Would their mother and father know what Enric had done? Were they prepared for her arrival? Even if they were displeased with her, she couldn't imagine that they would just turn her away. Nothing could be done to reverse the process, and they could either continue trying to protect their child or leave her to die. Somehow, she didn't think that her brother would stand for the latter, and even if their backs were turned to her, he would be there. He was the one who had given her life once more.
The look in his eyes was unmistakable, and had she still been human, she would have felt a chill through her spine. As it was, she only met his gaze with an intensity not seen in her in years. She was alive again, and she couldn't imagine how she had possibly spent so much of her life wasting away. No further words were exchanged as he pulled her into an embrace. Her thin arms wrapped around his neck and pulled him closer to her. This was what she had been missing, this was who she had been searching for.
To think that out of everything she could have remembered about her past, Enric was the one thing that even the spell could not keep from her- not truly. As a human, she had trusted him, even if she hadn't remembered him. Where she couldn't recall their mother and father, he seemed familiar to him. And even before then, she felt as if something was missing from her life, and as she settled in to her changed state, she realized that it hadn't been her blood as a vampire, but rather the brother who had always been there for her.
His eyes told stories his lips did not dare speak of. No, she didn't think he would leave her to rot, she would never think so lowly of him, and yet she wondered what would happen from here. So many years were unaccounted for, and they had both changed with time. They would have to start to learn each other again, and it was going to take time. But they had all the time in the world, she remembered. Being immortal had its advantages.
Yet, where would they go now? She could feel the hunger rising and knew better than to trust herself in her current state. It was a terrible state to feel as if she were but a newborn vampire, but she had exhibited abnormal self control thus far, and she could only continue to hope that her sanity, now repaired, would keep her from giving in the the temptation of feasting on any hapless mortal. She would not dare disgrace her family in such a way- she would not dare disappoint her beloved brother. She had accepted him. But even if she had returned his hug, they still didn't really know each other. Yes, they knew that they were siblings and from a royal blood line, but he still didn't know Juliet. Enric had placed a considerable amount of distance between himself and others; therefore, he didn't know what else to do. He had wanted to comfort her and make the transition as easy as possible, but he didn't have the confidence in being the most supportive. Growing up the way he did, he had become detached from emotions. Instead, he created a haven for himself by immersing himself into politics and feeding on the poor. The only 'fun' he had in his life was toying with his prey, toying with the humans in his life and destroying mortals with their own methods/laws. As her arms wrapped around his neck, she could probably feel how stiff he was.
He figured that she must have been hungry. Enric knew he was, just after getting a taste of her blood. Perhaps he would be able to overcome it if he decided to gourde on mortal blood instead. Yet, he highly doubted it since their exchange had been forbidden. Placing his hands upon Juliet's arms, he pushed himself back from her slightly. There was a hardness in his expression, the light of care slowly diminishing. Enric was reverting back to his old self. Juliet had been the only person in his life to be graced with such gentle mannerism from him. He didn't say anything as he leaned back and grabbed for the knife. Once he had it in hand, he walked over to the man's twisted head. It was obvious that Enric had killed frequently, he did it in such a way that there wasn't a single drop of blood. Once he was at the man's side, he leaned down and wedged the knife into the man's dead, purple hands.
Just on the outskirt of Enric's white shirt, near his neck, there was a big patch of blood. It was little compared to Juliet's. This would make their travel going back harder to navigate. Approaching Juliet once again, he moved his arms out so that he could grab her from around the waist. He ignored the way that the width of her skirts made him curve his back. In one quick gesture, he brought his sister up to her feet. Due to the elaborate design of Juliet's attire, he would not care – though he would have liked it. Enric could have gotten them quickly into the carriage. But right now, he didn't trust Juliet's ability; even if she had freakishly sustained controlling her hunger. After he forced her to stand on her feet, his left arm went down so that he could hold onto Juliet's wrist. It was a tight, possessive hold. He turned his head slightly so that he could look at his sister coldly.
She would have to learn not to take his mannerism personally. He didn't know that he cast such a menacing aura, it was merely who he was. Enric moved now, dragging Juliet along behind him. They were going to have to follow the abandoned area long the party's most outer lawn, cut through the back way of town and return Juliet home. Perhaps along the way, he could fetch her a human. Or else she would have to wait until they got back so he could accommodate her. Their mother and father would have no idea what Enric had done, for he had planned to bring her back at their manor. Not like this. It would also change things if, whoever sent the men, found out that they were dead... Everything was a predicament.
Enric stopped just when he got to the gate, pushed it open and pulled Juliet outside into visual area of the lawn. “Would you mind stripping, to your underskirts?” The sentence was blunt but he knew it was awkward, he didn't look at her. Enric had an idea, perhaps he could carry her if she got rid of her dress.... “You can hold onto the rest of your attire, leaving it here would leave evidence..”

She knew that the bloody mess would be a terrible thing to attempt to explain should they be found there. It was only fortunate that no one ever ventured inside. Yet, she had, and if she had, then there was a small chance anyone could happen upon them. There was that, and the fact that the scent of blood was starting to get to her. Her stomach ached with the terrible pains of hunger. She couldn't keep going on as she was for long. She still felt so very weak, but she would not allow herself to become a liability for him.
His grip was tight, but she couldn't fault him for that. She was his responsibility now, no matter if she had been born a vampire or turned into a fledgling- he had brought her back, and her actions were his consequence. It would be so easy to ruin them both, and he was just ensuring that. Still, it was hard to face down such a cold gaze. It was powerful and direct, and in any other circumstance, she might have thought on it much longer. She would have to come to get to know her brother again just as she had to find her own path. She tried to keep up with him, allowing him to move them both away from the scene of the gruesome murder.
Her mind was beginning to wonder, though she was not thinking of anything in particular. Perhaps she was trying to calm her senses so that she would not turn ravenous and try to break out of her brother's grip. It would be such a disappointment to him, yet the thought of food was so tempting. If she could wait a little longer, she would be well fed. Her thoughts of blood consumed her, yet it was these thoughts of the pay-off for waiting that kept her temperament in check. That, and she did not want to face her brother after having done such a thing. Her life as a human may have taught her quite a few things, really, or was it that she knew her place as a royal vampire that kept her from acting out? She always did have unearthly patience. She was accustomed to being kept waiting.
His voice seemed so far off when he spoke, and she realized that she had been in a daze- all she had heard was "stripping to your underskirts." While it did seem like an odd request, and she did look at her brother with a mask of confusion, she nodded compliantly. The smell of the soaked blood wasn't helping at all. "Very well," she was surprised she managed to speak, but so she did. The large gown was made quick work of as she unhooked its fixings. Right now, she couldn't be concerned with the fact that he would see her without all of the gaudy clothing to hide her form. At least it was not revealing like the typical nightdress which was flimsy without any bearing. The corset would still protect her modesty in that regard, and the slip she wore would hide most of her legs.
Stepping out of the red pool of cloth, she looked up at her brother expectantly. They didn't have too much time left, it seemed like they were always in a rush to beat the clock, yet hopefully it would all be over soon, and then they would have all the time they needed. At least, this was her wish. Nothing could be that simple, though. It hadn't thus far, and she had a feeling it wouldn't continue to be. Enric didn't turn his eyes away when the girl started to strip. However, the stare wasn't concentrated in a perverse way. He was merely watching her as she moved, focusing on her shoulder blades rather than the individual pieces of her wardrobe that she began to undress. Besides, it wasn't like Enric hadn't seen worse. The brothel was one of the best places to get blood, a bite wound could easily look like a stab wound. Murders among the whores were normal. Thus, he thought nothing of it when his sister was standing in her slip. However, if they weren't alone, Enric would have acted different. He would have been protective and would have never let it happen. When Juliet finally got the last bit of cloth off, he took an invasive step forward.
He reached for the over sized fabric that was a dress, shoved it into the girl's chest so that it was more like a blanket. With Juliet's figure exposed by the slip, he reached both of his arms down so that he could pick his sister off her feet. His left arm was holding onto her back, while the right was supporting her legs. It was a bridal position. From their position he could see the distant lights of the party. He was sure that a rumor was circulating about Enric. Someone had seen him before he rudely left. Though if Mr. Crooksten had been paying attention, he would have noticed that he was chasing after a girl. There was nothing about the situation that would make the man suspect; he would merely have to conclude that Enric was courting someone. Which was the proper thing to do at his age.
The girl felt light in his hold. “Hold on tight,” he instructed before he moved his feet. His movements were a 'run' but it was far too fast for the mortal eye to see. Vampires, especially those of a royal bloodline were born with bodies that didn't have limitations. The muscles didn't constrain under any movement, there was no burning sensation in the lungs; thus, there was no worries that too fast of a gesture could result in something like a heart attack. He was sure that Juliet could do the same, but he couldn't risk her stopping. A single stop would expose her to anyone, especially in the right place. Enric took the darker sides of the streets, evading the lamps that covered the sidewalks. They had passed a few people, but it was a mere gust of hair to them. If anything, it was dark, they would assume their eyes had been playing tricks.
This type of travel was shorter than a carriage, but Enric knew the delay. He had been carrying someone and taking routes that were much more complex, isolated. Since he was the navigator, Juliet might have a hard time distinguishing the blurs of space around her. Yet, that would come to a stop. Enric had stopped when he had got to the Stravos home. They were in the backyard, coming through a passage that Enric only knew of. He could see the candle light inside of their home, knowing that one of the maids was probably doing her duties. Most of the time the Stravos home was empty at night, due to parties and for other obvious reasons. Enric shoved the dress that had covered Juliet's body off of her, annoyed at the damn fabric in general.
Now that he had time to think about it, he was in a foul mood. Who were those people that had been sent to Juliet? And right before the transformation? Someone in the vampire society had betrayed the Stravos family. Enric turned the girl upright, setting her on her feet. His eyes met hers for a second. “Come inside, we'll have to get you something to eat.”

As her brother scooped her up in his arms, she remained pliant and trusting because that was all she could do at the moment. The world had taken on a new shape around her, and she could no longer trust her human instincts. If she had any hope of regaining the noble status she had once held, she would have to trust him. How strange it was to place so much of one's faith in a single person. She couldn't recall the last time she had done so, for most times she didn't even trust herself.
The world sped by around her as Enric ran. Though in the future, she may be able to see the world as he did, she was currently failing to keep up with him. In fact, the colors were all starting to blur together, and she suddenly felt sick- her head hurt and she was certain she would pass out soon. To try to cope, she shut her eyes tightly and held her dress closer to her chest. It was strange how she didn't feel cold in the crisp, winter night's air. London's cold was unforgiving to the humans, but she supposed that her very recent change must have made her immune to its effects.
Her dress was shoved at her as he set her down, and she took it from him silently. There was no way she could not have noticed the shift in his mood, and it was somewhat frightening to see the violent change overcome him, and something told her that it wasn't uncommon. She could recall that Enric was quick to anger as a child, but he had never had any serious anger issues that she knew of, but they had been apart so long, there were many things she didn't know about him anymore. And her thoughts from before swam in her mind. She was going to have to learn him all over again- not only him- but how to be a vampire once more.
Something had been robbed from her, she knew that now. No longer did she have to wonder what it was, but the cruelness that had forced her into this made her blood boil. Perhaps she and her brother weren't so different. Still, she remained silent as she followed him, idly wondering if she should dress again, though she didn't see much point in it given how her dress was soaked in blood. Blood- yes, she needed blood. Her thoughts were jumbled, and she realized that she could not concentrate on one single thing. She wanted to scream with rage, but she couldn't, not here and not now.
Right now, she needed to focus on getting something to eat. It would make everything better- it was the lack of blood that was causing the side effects of starvation in the young vampire.
He was speaking, telling her to accompany him inside. "I am very... hungry," she managed the sentence, though it was obvious the pain she was in. Having to restrain herself, especially without the years of training he had, was not easy. It was only her bloodline and pride keeping her in line- it was only that which had kept her in line and obeying her brother's orders. In fact, now that she was standing, it was evident that her entire body was trembling from the effort.
"... Why was I sent away?" Juliet asked him as they ventured inside the estate. In truth, the girl had never been told why, she only knew that she was doing it for the good of the family and safety of her brother. She wanted to know if it had been worth it when, years later, she still had to return to vampire society and likely posed more of a threat than before. It was almost as if she had been human, turned into a vampire with no prior warning. She knew what she had once been, yet she could not remember experiencing the world around her or how she had feasted on blood. She could not recall how she survived.
How much of a burden she must be now- unable to take care of herself, a weak fledgling... it was a disgrace.
