Player's Name: Chii Other Characters: Juliet Contacts: PM my admin account or catch me in the cbox. Random Fact: I love historical mystery novels.
Name: Garnet Noel Hargreaves Alias: Garnet Age: 17 Birthday: February 04 Gender: Male Species: Human (Gifted) Social Class: Working Class, but just barely. Job/Position?: Female-role performer at Bryton Theatre Sexual Preference: Homosexual
Hair: Long, light brown, and naturally wavy. Garnet often wears it tied back in a low ponytail when he's not on stage performing. Eyes: Grey. Height: 5'10" Weight: fluctuates between 120 and 115 lbs.
Garnet is a very shy individual. Upon first look, most people do mistake him for a girl; though he doesn't help himself by having long hair and acting with subtle feminine mannerisms. He's incredibly soft spoken and doesn't stand up for himself all that much. It's likely he would have been bullied by his peers more if not for the fact he doesn't respond to it- making him both an easy and boring target. However, that's not to say he doesn't deal with it on a daily basis. He's had his lunch knocked out of his hands, been tripped while walking to his dressing room, and dealt with mockery of other actors and actresses.
The only time he really shines and stands out is when he is involved in his music or on stage. Whether playing the piano, the violin, the flute, or even just singing, you would take notice of him. He speaks all of his lines with such sincerity and honesty that he truly does become them for the night. However, that said, he has a lot of stage fright and doesn't like to be in front of people, oddly enough. He'd rather play in the solitude of his room. His music is one of the most important things in his life, and he was a deep connection with it and its symbolism to him. He tries to stay out of the spotlight when off stage.
The most he socializes with people is showing up to events and hanging out in the corner of the room. He's too shy to get involved with people, and most people don't notice his presence; those who do often have less than honorable intentions. In fact, he spends most of his time at events hoping that someone will notice him and talk to him- someone who wants to be his friend. Unfortunately, he doesn't realize that the only way to make friends is to talk to people without fear of rejection... which is what he is most terrified of. He has a lot of social anxiety, even though he loves to be around people.
He actually suffers from severe post traumatic stress disorder- he will scream if he is surprised, he gets paranoid very easily, and he has a terrible habit of taking his frustrations out on himself. He has ended up having several doctors have to make house-calls before due to this habit, though he has usually made up silly excuses as to his situation, and he's since tried to avoid being seen. Often, he self-sabotages any progress he makes in his therapy, and perhaps subconsciously, he's afraid of getting out of it. At least someone pays attention to him and listens to what he says, and he will take what he can get- until he's ready to heal, he's never going to be able to. Of course, this isn't even the beginning of his problems. He doesn't even remember the true trigger to his extreme behavior.
Garnet is unaware of his gifts blessed on him. He does not know he has the power of foresight and that his emotions are directly linked to his power. He has an affinity towards fire, but he is none-the-wiser. He is a natural healer and can heal not only himself but others from sickness and injury. Again, because he's unaware, it's a pretty useless thing to have. Until he stops being so self-conscious and unsure, he'll never be able to tap into his full potential.
Garnet Noel Hargreaves was born to parents Thomas and Beatrice Hargreaves one cold February morning. The couple raised their son like any normal boy. He grew up on an old farm house, seeing that his ancestors had once owned the land, but he spent most of his time in the inner city with his mother, a seamstress.
He was a talkative, inquisitive child whose natural talent for music was evident from a very young age. His parents nurtured his talent and encouraged him to take lessons on the piano so that he would hone his skill, spending their spare coin on training him. However, his true passion lay in singing, but he did not start formal training until he was eight- two years after he began the piano. He was quick to learn and had a natural want to impress and make others proud of him. His honor and respect for his parents led to his idolization of him. They doted on him as he was their only son.
As a child, he was spared no expense to go to a well-known private school, despite his social status. His father, a merchant, made a considerable income for his family- his profession tied in to his natural desire to help others- he was often called upon to make medicine and see patients (he had chosen medicine as his profession). He was, however, known for his work with the poor of the city and the willingness to see anyone who needed his services even if they could not afford it.
Yes, his childhood was near perfect in a lot of ways. He has no complaints of the time he spent with his parents in their home or his early interest in music. However, like all good things, it came to a rather violent end the night of October 10th during the family's trip overseas to help some archaeologists that had fallen ill during an excavation project. His parents did not show up in town that night to take him and his caretaker home as promised that night. and afterwards, there was no one to at the home to care for him. Because it was so unlike his parents, Garnet started to feel a sense of unease.
As soon as he got to the house they had been staying in, he could tell something was wrong. No one answered the door, and no lights could be seen. Frustrated and afraid of the visions he was starting to have, Garnet smashed on of the ground floor windows with a rock and crawled inside. Once he had, he wished he hadn't. Furniture laid broken, overturned, and destroyed. The mangled corpse of his mother- or rather, what remained of her- lay in the hallway near the stairs, and he could hear the low growl and gnawing sounds of something upstairs. He stood in shock for what seemed like forever before becoming sick.
He doesn't know what possessed him to do it, but he managed to regain his composure to go up the stairs. Seeing the monster feasting on his father's body sent him reeling back, and he did the only logical thing he could do. He turned and ran. In his hurry, he knocked into things, alerting the daimon to his presence. And he ran as fast as he could directly into the forest. While illogical by most people's standards, it probably saved his life. Rather than being exposed in the open field, he was protected by the dark brush and trees.
How long he ran, who can say, but he eventually emerged near one of the campsites scared, confused, and alone. Fortunately, some of those still healthy were able to see how distraught the boy was and was able to protect him from the monster that still roamed. He was on the first train back to England.
Unfortunately, Garnet had no living relatives to take him in. His parents had, in truth, been going bankrupt, so it was reasonable that they did not have anyone set up to look after him. The owner of the Bryton Theatre took the boy in as his responsibility for the Thomas's services to him when his wife and child had nearly died. He felt he owed it to the man for saving his child's life.
Garnet was encouraged to keep up his musical pursuits and slowly found himself performing in some of the plays. By day, life was returning to a relatively normal pace, but things were beginning to unravel for the boy at night. Night terrors sent him screaming and crying in his sleep and began to disturb some of his fellow housemates. His power was awakening prematurely, and it was feeding off of the insecurity, fear, and paranoia the boy was developing over the deaths of his parents.
For the next few years, Garnet would live a fairly normal life considering his new home. As time went on, the night terrors ceased. He got a big break in acting and can often be seen starring in many plays and productions that are held in which all men are cast- he makes a beautiful girl on stage, and he's had quite a few offers to "visit" him off set. He's been encouraged to pursue these wealthy men by his higher-uppers in hopes they will donate to the theatre if he pleases them, but so far he's managed to avoid incident. However, he finally has reached the age where his powers have fully matured, and his night terrors are beginning to take hold again. Right now, he's dismissing them as silly dreams, but while he's awake, he can't help but feel a sense of unease...
