Player's Name: Sakura Other Characters: None yet... Contacts: AIM: TomoyoTsuki ; E-mail: auburn_elf@yahoo.com Random Fact: Jelly beans (like Brach's) are my favorite candy of the moment.
Name: Cora Anne Mayfair Alias: Cora (to the public), and too many to count in the dark corners of London she frequents Age: 19 Birthday: February 22 Gender: Female Species: Vampire Social Class: Nobility Job/Position: Viscountess Sexual Preference: Claims to be heterosexual, but likes any pretty adult.
Hair: Cora's hair is black with some curl. When it is not up it brushes to almost the top of her elbows, but she often has it pulled away from her face. Eyes: Brown Height: 5'6 Weight: 126
Cora is a selfish person whose main goal in life is to enjoy it. She has extravagant tastes and is a good judge about whether something is good quality. She indulges in plenty of vices without considering what others will think unless their opinions are important. She very rarely cares about the needs or wants of others unless they are useful to her. She has a good memory for names, faces, and the activities of others. She loves to gossip with others, but there is no one that she is particularly close to.
She is a hedonistic individual who looks out for her own welfare and is convinced that that is the way everyone should live. She is beautiful, vain, and prideful. She had been taught that she was better than to most people growing up and has quite the superiority complex. However, she often does not like that same mind set in others.
She does not like obstacles. A game and chase she does mind, but a real challenge is something she despises. Obstacles are meant to be conquered or destroyed in her eyes. If anyone is in her way, she is more than willing to push them out of the way. She is quick to retaliate and has no qualms about whose life or feelings she might hurt in the process.
Despite her negative attributes, Cora can be quite the charmer. She can coerce people to do what she wants, but she really loves to inspire their envy. She is skilled at embroidery, dancing, playing a couple instruments well and can sing beautifully. She uses these skills as well her charm and ability to manipulate to get what and who she wants. Once she has someone in her thrall she will suck them dry until they are of no more use to her or when the thrill is gone.
At one point, there was a chance that Cora might have grown to be a loving, compassionate person. Sadly, once she lost her baby sister, she put up a wall between the world and her heart. She is convinced that no one can care for her or unconditionally love so there is no point in dealing with such nonsense. Instead she devotes her energy to being better than others and has gotten to be very good at it.
Cora has been born to privilege and has no illusions about the world. She was born to a family that fit the stereotype of snobbish, emotionally distant aristocrats to the letter. She was the third child born to her parents, a daughter after two sons. Her father was apathetic since he already had two sons to succeed him. Her mother was displeased and worried at the damage that this new arrival had done to her figure. Her older brothers did not have much interest in dealing with her and instead chose to focus on their futures. Needless to say, she received very little affection from her family as a child. She also did not bond with any of her governesses or nannies.
Early on, she tried to mimic her mother's behavior in order to win her approval, but she never succeeded. At three years old, she learned that her mother was expecting another child. This was an exciting time for the little girl because she wanted someone younger than her that she could teach and love. When the baby was born, she loved her young sibling immediately. The infant brought out a kind, gentler side in the little girl. The servants helped her care for her sibling. She learned to hold her, sooth her, and sang lullabies for her. Cora felt so happy that she finally had someone in the family that loved her. However, it was not to last. Her little sister died after only a few months of life.
The family servants were more comforting to her than her own family was after the loss. Her parents told her that babies died quite frequently and that it was nothing to be so broken-hearted about. Her brothers tried to soften the blow by telling her that she would see her sister again some day and might have another one in the future. But the damage was done and Cora's heart hardened to world. She never got another living sibling (her mother had two miscarriages) and gave up hope that she would find someone to receive unconditional love from. She could easily tell that the girls she socialized with did not care for her personally, but then again she did not care for them either. She vowed to herself that if she could not be loved unconditionally she would at least be skilled and powerful. As a student, Cora was a delight to her tutors. She easily could meet their strict requirements and knew how to flatter them. Her mother had been a great dancer when she in her youth and this ability is evident in her daughter. She was also able to do embroidery and copy works of art with little effort and she only persisted in doing it to make her peers feel inferior in their efforts. Academics proved a bit more difficult, but she eventually conquered them like she did with most things that stood in her way.
As a child, she always strove to be at the top among girls in her social circle by any means necessary. If threats did not suffice, she did this through through literally pushing girls down. She had no qualms with pushing other girls in the mud and ripping their dresses in order to knock them down a few pegs. Her parents reprimanded her, but the only thing Cora learned from the talk was that she needed to use a different tactic to win. (That and it was not worth it to risk ruining the fine fabric of her dresses or her face. Her mother was livid about the muddied satin from one incident where the other girl had pushed back.) She cultivated manipulative techniques by watching the interactions of the adults of her station.
Puberty could not come soon enough for the aristocratic beauty. She was eager to have men to manipulate and use to her advantage. At first, she charmed the boys her “friends” had their eyes on and quickly had them fawning over her and begging for her company. She relished the adoration of the suitors who came to call and saw no reason to actually choose just one of them. That did not mean that she did not have a little fun with them though. However, she was determined to hold out for the best offer. Their fortunes were great, their looks pleasing, but none she had no passion for any of them. She wanted to have someone she could be passionate about and with before she was married.
She found that person in an one partcularly intriguing handsome man. Unfortunately for her, the aforementioned man was a vampire who saw her as the perfect playmate. He knew her for what she was and wanted to keep her all to himself. She was too charmed by him to know what his true intentions were until it was too late. The pain of the transformation was the worst she had ever experienced and it psychologically warped her. She vowed to make him pay for what he had done. Cora took in everything her creator had taught her and enjoyed it. He began by luring people over to them and taught her better self-control so that she would not drink too much and kill them. Another skill she learned from him was how to drop them off, a little dazed but none the worse for wear, at another location without notice.
Eventually, he had her start luring people over to them herself and she got to be quite good at it. She did not hide her behavior at home and it not take too long for her parents to get suspicious. (By this time, her brothers had left and started families of their own.) Still, Cora was able to persuade them to go riding with her and the vampire who sired her. Thar ride into the woods was the last time they were ever seen alive. She put on a very convincing performance when she ran home covered in blood and sobbed about how a pack of wolves had attacked her family and killed her parents. This won her the sympathy of her servants, neighbors, and society. A couple months after that incident, she attacked the vampire who made her and left him for dead.
Cora still continues socializing and lives quite the hedonistic lifestyle. She was managed to charm her victims into giving her blood and they still return to her. As long as she still has the right people in her pocket, Cora is perfectly content with how things are. Still, she would not turn down the chance to meet new people...
